Katy Lou Geiser is a cheering, clapping, and bouncy definition of a comeback kid.
The 16-year-old Ocean Springs High School Junior suffered
an injury in middle school while practicing for a cheer competition. That fall resulted in multiple surgeries and physical therapies and she was told she might never cheer again. But she dug deep into her inner drive and pushed
As a dedicated member and the two-year captain of the Bay High Lady Tigers Basketball team, Taniyah Lewis has an unwavering commitment
to sports. She’s earned numerous accommodations, including invitations to the 2023 SMACM Athletix All-Star Team, the annual South MS All-Star Team, the PRCC All-Star Team, the 2024 All-District Team, and the 2024 District Champions.

herself to emerge stronger and better. She’s currently a member of the OSHS Varsity Cheerleading Team, proving the comeback is always stronger than the setback.
She’s also acquired numerous awards and accommodations in academics, athletics, and other organizations and has countless hours of community service and involvement all while maintaining the Principal’s List and Honor Roll.
And to further turn that tragedy into a bouncing success, she plans to attend the University of South Alabama after graduation and pursue a degree in physical therapy.
She’s not only a basketball star, but she also excels in cross- country running and track and field events.
The Bay St. Louis High School senior is a top-performing student ranking number 25 in her class. She’s a member
of numerous organizations and volunteer groups and is Secretary for the Class of 2024. Taniyah is not just an outstanding athlete and student. She is also an active member of the youth ministry at First Missionary Baptist Church of Bay St Louis.
Her passion for numbers has led her to pursue a major in accounting at the University of South Alabama in the fall.
