Rebecca Wilson’s love for food always stood in the way of her weight loss journey.
“I thought nope, I love food too much, can’t do it. Then I realized, after a friend suddenly lost a loved one to a heart attack, I can’t let food control me, I won’t put my family through that.”
Wilson began her journey at 276 pounds when
she decided to make an appointment with
Singing River Weight Loss Center.
“Dr. Avara is by far the best and doesn’t beat around the bush. He told me I was borderline diabetic. That’s when I knew I was ready.”
Since surgery two years ago, Wilson has lost 120 pounds. She credits her success to the education and support provided by the team.
“I listen to my body and stop eating when it tells me to. I don’t push it because I don’t want to go back - I’ve worked too hard for this.”
As a nurse, Wilson uses this knowledge to encourage her patients who are struggling with obesity. Also, to teach her son about the importance of healthy eating habits.
“I now can do more for my patients when they have those same concerns I once had. At home, you don’t have to clean your plate. When you’re full, you stop.”
