“I am someone who is not “ afraid to stand out and be di erent from everyone else.
A senior at Ocean Springs High School, Gianna Milanese is known for being spunky, fun, adventurous and outgoing. “I am someone who is not afraid to stand out and be di erent from everyone else,” she says.
The 17 year old is the captain of the Ocean Springs High School varsity and competition cheer team and helps out at a local cheer gym preparing kids for high school or middle school tryouts. She is also involved in the Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi and Ocean Springs Crown Club where she has served as the corresponding secretary for the past two years. Milanese is a member of the National Honors Society and National Technical Honors Society and president of the Ocean Springs Cotillion.
In her 9th grade year, her cheer team won the MSHAA State Championship. Another fond memory was that of being selected for her school’s Hall of Fame. “Hall of Fame is one of the greatest accomplishments given in high school,” says Milanese. “The feeling of seeing my name and picture as they announced the 20 out of 400 people that got it has been one of the best feelings yet.”
She plans to attend the University of Mississippi majoring in broadcast journalism while also being a part of the Haley Barbour Center of Manufacturing Excellence Program. “After college I plan to come back and work at my families business, Bay Pest Control, where I will work with my dad hoping to do what he does one day in the future,” she says.”

Milanese says she has had many cheerleaders along the way, but that her mom and grandparents have been her biggest supporters and motivators. “They are always there to attend games, competitions, practices, school functions and even small things that have nothing to do with school no matter what,” she says. “I am thankful to have had such amazing people in my life.”
