Why do we lose our baby teeth?
When we’re little, our skulls are small and still growing, so there’s not enough room for our big teeth yet. As we grow, our baby teeth save room for the adult teeth we’ll eventually
have! Baby teeth are also important for chewing and learning how to talk.
What are boogers?
Boogers are made of a few things, the rst ingredient being nasal mucus. Your nose and throat produce up to two quarts per day, which helps to keep your nose and sinuses wet and help trap intruders such as dust, pollen, bacteria and viruses that can make you sick.
Where do dreams come from?
When we sleep, we’re resting and saving our energy, but unlike when you turn o a computer, our brain doesn’t turn o . Instead we dream while we sleep, which some scientists say can help us to recall the events of the day, store memories, or even solve problems.
Why do donuts have holes in them?
The bakers who made the rst donuts noticed that the heat from frying the dough didn’t quite reach the center – the outside
was perfectly browned but the inside was undercooked. The hole was added to allow the donut to cook evenly!
Why do my fingers and toes get wrinkly in water?
Have you ever taken a long bath and noticed your skin started to look wrinkly? Pruney ngers and toes happen when your nervous systems sends a message to your blood vessels to become narrower. The narrowed blood vessels cause folds of skin to appear, giving a wrinkled appearance.
How do we hear things?
Sound waves travel through your ear canal until they reach the eardrum. Here, vibrations are passed on to your inner ear which is shaped like a snail and lled with thousands of tiny hairs. These little
hairs charge the vibrations into electrical signals that go to your brain and let you hear the noise!
Do fish drink water?
Unlike humans, sh don’t ever feel thirsty – after all, they’re surrounded by water! However, water is still important for their bodies. Freshwater sh absorb water through their skin and
gills through a process called osmosis, and saltwater sh process water through their gills.
Why do we have belly buttons?
Your belly button marks the spot where you were once attached to your mother by an umbilical cord. When you were still in her belly, this cord is how you got all the nutrients that you needed to grow.
