KIDS QUESTIONS
story by Kelsey Sunderman-Foster
As a parent, you’re expected
to know the answers to all of
life’s many questions – too many questions to count sometimes! And while some questions are easy (what color is the sky?), others
are a bit harder (why is it blue?). For those tricky questions there’s always Google, and now this handy list! Ask away, kiddos.
What happens if you swallow gum?
Swallowing your gum isn’t the end of the world, but it’s not ideal either. Our bodies can’t digest gum, but gum that’s swallowed won’t build up in your stomach. Instead, the gum will stay intact and move through your digestive tract until your next visit to
the restroom.
Why is the sky blue?
Sunlight is full of many di erent colors, which are scattered in all directions. However, blue light in particular is scattered more than the other colors. Why? This color of light travels in shorter, smaller waves, which is why we see a blue sky most of the time.
