VOTE FOR
BROADCAST JOURNALISM STUDENT OF THE YEAR!
story and photo courtesy of WXXV
WXXV and the Bannister Foundation have teamed up
to recognize outstanding local high school journalism students with the “Broadcast Journalism Student of the Year” scholarship. The program, now in its second year, invites local high school seniors with an interest in pursuing broadcast journalism
at a four-year college to apply
for a $2,000 scholarship from
the Bannister Foundation by making a video reel showcasing their news writing, videography, editing and public speaking skills.
The submissions are available for the public to view on the wxxv25.com contest page and
cast their vote for their favorite reporter. A committee then takes the public vote into consideration when choosing the winner. The
student will be surprised LIVE at school on NEWS 25 this month and will also get to spend a day shadowing our NEWS 25 TODAY team as they create and execute a morning newscast. Tune in to NEWS 25 this
month to see which lucky local student we will name the 2020 “Broadcast Student of the Year!”
The Bannister Foundation
was created by renowned local artist Patti Bannister to further the arts, education and help children in need on the Gulf Coast. If you are interested in more information about the Bannister Foundation’s work in our community, please visit their website at bannisterfoundation.org.
