for family and pets. “I will never own any not slip covered,” Jamie says. “Whatever I like, I use.” Although
it’s comfortable and welcoming,
this room has a quiet sophistication that’s supported by the draperies and accessories. The family includes Jamie, a former teacher, Jason, a quality manager with Exxon, and their sons, Ethan, 20, and Seth, 29.
Jamie also likes “handed down things” such as the carnival glass dogs her uncle won and gave to her aunt and the many pieces of milk glass throughout the home. “I love anything with a story,” she says.

“We’ve tried to maintain the imperfections because we like the character of old houses,” Jamie says of the home they’ve lived in 17 years. “We’re still working on it, but it’s been a labor of love.”
From the front porch with its crisp black and white color scheme and quirky accessories it’s evident this home is loved. The door opens
into a parlor or what was sometimes called a front room. Here soft colors
reign – taupe walls, light
blue on the ceiling, natural wooden oors – for a
warm rst impression. It shares a two-sided replace with original mantels with the living room.
The living room and dining room are full of charm with charcoal walls and white trim. One wall of the dining room has gold patterned wall covering indicative of the early 1900s and a long window seat is a special feature. Both rooms have lots of natural light with large windows. Original columns on each side of a cased opening separate the two areas.
