Resurrection Catholic School student Seline Decoteau has certainly made a lasting impact on RCS during her time there. Decoteau is a top student and athlete, and recently earned her place as RCS Royalty.
RCS recently celebrated its 75th Carnival Ball. Every year, students from each grade compete to be members of the RCS Carnival Ball Court by raising money for
the school. From November to February, students and parents concoct various creative ways to raise money, and the high school student who raises the most money is celebrated as Queen Victoria. This year, Decoteau and her escort, Will French, were able to raise over $30,000 for RCS. Decoteau, French, and their parents worked tirelessly to fundraise for carnival ball, and the money they earned will impact the school in many ways.
Through her e orts, Decoteau instantly became a role- model to all of the underclassmen and even elementary students. On the night of the event, all of the students where clamoring to take a picture of her as she dazzled in her crown; her parents, teachers, and principal smiled proudly as they thought about all she had done and sacri ced to represent her school as queen.
Decoteau is the embodiment of the “hard work pays o ” mantra. She works hard to stay at the top of her class and always brings her A game on the volleyball court, tennis court, and the soccer eld. Outside of school, she tirelessly works to better her community through service projects for her church and school.
Her soccer coach told her at the beginning of this year that if she wanted to play at the college level she would need to send her resume and schedule to coaches, so that is just what she did. She was invited to several junior colleges in Mississippi and Louisiana, and has signed
to play at East Central Community College, where she will also enjoy an academic scholarship. As Decoteau continues to work diligently to attain her goals in life, it is certain that she will do what it takes to nd success t for a queen.
