• Fresh flowers and greenery
58 SOUTH MISSISSIPPI Living • April 2019
HOW TO:
Go outside and look for some interesting plants — anything from flowers to greenery. Look for interesting shapes like berries or especially distinctive leaves.
Separate the clay into small sections that fit in the palm of your hand (about two inches around when rolled into a ball). Then roll the clay out on the parchment paper with the roller.
Arrange the plants on the clay as you would like them to appear in the impression.
Carefully roll over the plants, applying pressure to make sure the impression is deep enough to see. While the clay is still wet, you can punch a hole in the top if you would like to use the impressions as ornaments.
Allow the impressions to dry for a day or two depending on the humidity.
Paint your impressions. You can go for a more realistic style or try something abstract.
