HOME family life
Twelve-foot ceilings and cool floors of Egyptian limestone add to the spaciousness of the living areas. While the color palette is soft, tasteful spots of color are added with blue and white Chinese porcelain and art. The painting over the living room mantle brings pleasant
shades of pink and blue to the cream, gold and gray walls and furnishings.
Bahadur notes that two dark gray chairs in the master bedroom helped set the tone for the house. “I immediately liked these chairs and everything trended from them” she said.
The wall color in this room is Benjamin Moore’s Chelsea Gray and the drapes are
a cream colored silk. The bed’s massive upholstered headboard and frame were hand made to compliment the room’s size, and a large glass-fronted display case with artifacts completes the beautiful room. Here too, the view leads the eye outward to the water.
The master bath is another room with a relaxing theme. It’s graced with a chandelier, fireplace in the wall and tub and counter tops of Calcutta marble.
The formal dining room’s window wall is eye catching. It features woven shades and silk draperies with louvered panels on each side for an interesting mix of textures.
The informal dining area has an unusual round travertine table surrounded by gray upholstered chairs underneath an antique chandelier. This area is open to the spacious kitchen and family room. The kitchen has everything a cook desires, including a second oven that’s out of the high traffic area, SieMatic drawer system,
a lighted onyx bar and teak breakfast bar with gray leather chairs.
The family room has a soothing built-in saltwater aquarium along with a warm navy and gray color scheme. “I like modern but not a cold look,” Bahadur said.
The children’s rooms complete the home with each expressing their interests and color choices. Sohni’s room includes a Mitchell Gold bed and some bright artwork.
As an added bonus, the home is a smart home, which Beemon says is what they wanted. “We tweaked the system and updated it to make it
a state-of-the-art system,” he said. “We like the comfort, security and convenience of it.”
Local interior designer Gail Majure assisted with color choices and decorating.
