After making the decision to do whatever it took to improve his health, Reid began his research. “I had heard nothing but great things about the doctors and staff at the South Mississippi Surgical Weight Loss Center. From the testimonies I had seen, I could tell that Dr. Avara, nurse practitioner Rauls and most of all, Ms. Abby Sniffen the nutritionist, were quite the team,” Reid said. “From the first day I met her, Ms. Abby lit a passion in me, not just to look into the possibility of having the surgery, but to improve my life and eating habits.”
Ultimately, Reid opted for weight loss surgery and underwent the gastric sleeve operation. “This procedure seemed to have
a better long term trajectory that would allow me to do what I wanted with this surgery. The inability to eat the amounts of food I was used to eating would help me to lose the weight and allow me to maintain proper portion control for the rest of my life,” he said.
Now, only eight months into his post-surgery weight loss, Reid has completely transformed into a happier and healthier version of himself. From his starting 325 pounds, Reid has already lost 110 pounds and plans to continue improving. “I am still — and will always be — a daily work in progress. I believe with God, my family, friends and the surgery I have had, I will not only keep the weight off, but be able to live a healthy and active lifestyle alongside my wife and children,” Reid said.
