Pascagoula native Robert Bennett has worked at Scranton’s Restaurant for 27 years. Having worked in the food industry
for 29 years and as a chef for 26 years, Bennett has known since a very young age that cooking
is what he wants
to do for a
living. His
favorite
thing
about
being a
chef is
creating
dishes for
people to enjoy,
and soups, stews, and
bisques are his favorite dishes to prepare.
What does he order when
he goes out to eat? “I order a burger wherever I go,” he said.
“You can’t go wrong with a cheeseburger and fries!”
Being a chef is not just about the cooking. “If you plan on making kitchen life a career, you must have a thick skin and learn
to take criticism and make yourself
and your
food better,”
Bennett said. “You
must also be good
at multi- tasking.”
Scranton’s Restaurant is
located at 623 Delmas Avenue in Pascagoula and is a member of the Mississippi Coast Restaurant & Beverage Association.
