As a strong, independent woman living in the 21st century, I am perfectly capable of governing all aspects of my life, to include preparing wonderfully curated meals worthy of a magazine cover. However,
as a working professional, devoted wife, and mother of two kids under six, being capable of something and actually having the time to achieve said tasks don’t always go hand in hand.
While we would all love to plan healthier and more time-efficient meals, life sometimes gets in the way. Meal prepping has taken the food scene by storm but can definitely be overwhelming, especially if you aren’t wanting to eat baked chicken and broccoli five days in a row. Luckily, Prep by KUG in Ocean Springs takes the stress out of food prepping for you with a delicious, yet healthy approach.
Prep Owner and Chef Kristen Grizzard has always enjoyed cooking. As a child, she would watch her great-great-grandmother prepare delicious meals, while slowly developing her own passions for food preparation.
As someone who has always strived to eat healthy and concentrate on physical fitness, Prep has become a natural fit. In 2015, Grizzard began meal prepping for friends after she successfully completed
a Whole-30 challenge. Working from
the South Coast Seafood kitchen, Prep continued to grow and eventually needed its own space. In October 2017, Prep by KUG officially opened its doors on Thorn Avenue and continues to serve the Gulf Coast with a fresh, inventive and ever- changing menu.
Each week, Grizzard prepares and offers a selection of macro and paleo meals. Macro meals focus on tracking specific grams of proteins, fats and carbs, while paleo meals refrain from the use of dairy, grains, soy and legumes.
On the macro menu, Prep’s Coconut Cashew Chicken features chicken tenderloins coated in paprika, coconut and chopped cashews, which are then baked till golden and crispy. They pair beautifully with garlic green beans. If you are looking for something more seaworthy, the Creamy
