Food has always been David Macon’s passion. He helped his mom in the kitchen at an early age and started out as a cook at Pizza Hut during his
sophomore year of high school. His passion and desire to o er quality food and beer on the Mississippi Coast inspired him to open Pu Belly’s in November 2019.
A native of Odessa, Texas, Macon moved
to the Coast with his wife in 2004. He said
he found himself often disappointed in the food when dining out, and he wanted to o er something di erent. “I have always strived to create menu and beer styles that have a distinct di erence over what other establishments are doing,” Macon said. Patrons will nd numerous craft beers for the o ering and a menu of food selections, including
appetizers, pizza, calzones, kabobs, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. One of their signature starter dishes is the Garlic Shrimp Boat, which
is a New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp without the shell. One may also nd shrimp and grits on the menu as a weekend special. Pu Belly’s is located at 3179 Mallett Rd,
Ste. 22, in D’Iberville, and is a member of the Mississippi Coast Restaurant & Beverage Association.
