stuffed pineapples, over-stuffed baked potatoes, chicken liver and gizzards, shrimp tacos and all-you- can-eat catfish or gumbo on Fridays.
Although I have been to Martin’s several times, I decided to try the seafood platter for the research purposes of this review. Dang. It
is massive. It comes to the table in
a Styrofoam container with its lid held in place by a rubber band – the seafood is literally falling out of the box.
The contents weigh about four
or five pounds. There are two
large catfish filets that easily weigh
a pound, a couple of pounds of shrimp, a stuffed crab, hushpuppies and French fries. It is a ridiculous amount of food and there’s no way to eat it all in one sitting, maybe
even two sittings. It’s that much food. They even make their own tartar sauce and cocktail sauce, or you can get a side of Martin’s secret-recipe voodoo sauce.
But here’s the thing – this is South Mississippi and you better bring your A-game when it comes to fried seafood. And Martin’s delivers. The seafood is fresh and well-seasoned.
The breading is light and crispy and not at all heavy or dense. It is literally fried seafood perfection.
Martin’s Beef Jerky seafood platter is just the tip of the culinary iceberg. The fried ribs are next level, especially with some J.
Lee’s Gourmet BBQ Sauce for dipping. You can also choose from several flavors of hot wings, 10 types of house-made beef jerky, Nathan’s hotdogs and several other sandwiches. Whatever you decided to order, know that you’re going to leave full and satisfied.
The seafood platter contains about ve pounds of shrimp, cat sh, hushpuppies, stu ed crab and French fries. It’s so large, the box has to be closed with a rubber band.
Martin’s Beef Jerky makes 10 avors of beef jerky in house and sells it by the ounce or pound.
Martin’s has daily specials including a grilled sh salad.
