nique — meaning one of a kind — is not a word to be tossed about willy nilly. However, in the case of the Ocean Springs home of Bill and Micha Gryder it’s exactly the right
descriptive word. This home is a real standout and there’s not another one like it.
It was built in 1959-60 by Bill’s parents from
a design by architect Bruce Goff, who was distinguished by his organic, eclectic and often flamboyant designs. A 1951 Life magazine story about Goff noted, “He is one of the few U.S. Architects whom Frank Lloyd Wright considers creative.” Goff studied under Wright and Bill Gryder points out that Wright’s influence is seen in Goff’s designs.
