Trends and fashions are always changing in the world of hair and makeup. That’s why the Chuck Kelly Salon believes strongly in continuing education to stay on the cutting edge.
There are weekly educational sessions for the new talent and apprentices, plus the seasoned stylists often attend specialized training in New York City. Three stylists recently became master colorists during a week-long seminar at the Goldwell Color Academy where they worked with live models. Those include Courtney Meyers, Brittany Harrison and Jessica Satchfield. Certified as Network Educators at Bumble & Bumble University were Ashley Page, Bree Jacobs and Krissy Simmerman. “It’s a big deal to be certified as master colorists and educators,” Senior Stylist Ashley Page said.
Page also serves as new talent educator. She and owner Chuck Kelly teach hair cutting to the new talent, and once a quarter outside educators are brought in. The cutting techniques taught are British

cutting, French cutting, straight razor cutting and precision cutting.
Stylists begin as apprentices which involves shadowing experienced stylists and receiving one-on-one training.
“The apprentices have graduated from cosmetology school and have their licenses, but the additional training gives them in-depth education,” Page said. “The salon invests a lot in our stylists, and it’s a gradual process.”
The current new talent includes Adrianë Hatch, Kelsey Lee, Paige Allen and Elle Wheat. “I feel very blessed to be able to be in a training program,” Lee said. “You don’t realize how much more you need to learn and this is really great.”
Allen said, “Going into this career I wanted to be the best I could be and continuing education is important. I wanted to be involved in a salon offering that so I can continue to evolve.”
And Hatch added, “It means a lot
to me to work for someone who’s big
on education. This industry is always changing, and here everyone helps us; it’s our culture.”
