Finds a new home
Bay Life Gifts, previously located at 111 Main Street in Bay St.
Louis, finds its new home at 112 Second Street. After three years of business success in the original location, Bay Life owner Janice Guido was ready for a change.
“The old location helped me to survive my first years in retail,
but lack of parking and space was becoming an issue,” said Guido. “I started looking for a larger space with onsite parking and more space both inside and out to help create an interesting and inviting atmosphere. I found all that and more at historic Century Hall, just a block up the street next to the famous Mockingbird Cafe.”
Century Hall houses a collection of shops and an elite art gallery, which Guido believes makes it a perfect fit for her store. “These surrounding stores will help provide additional excitement and foot traffic,” she said. “The wonderful shop owners and artists of Gallery Edge have made me feel so welcome and excited about future events at the Hall. We are all happy to be working together to make Century Hall the place to shop on the Coast.”

As a member of Pass Christian’s retail community for more than 25 years, Mimi Parker Thomas is pleased that the town is on the upswing. The owner of Parkers, Inc. said “The economic outlook is definitely good as more businesses open and homeowners rebuild.”
Thomas first opened her business in 1991. After Hurricane Katrina’s destruction, she re-opened in 2011 two doors down from her original location. “I’ve added new lines, including a big assortment of baby gifts, a spa collection, wedding gifts, jewelry and the works of local artists,” she said.
Special to the shop is the line of jewelry that she
designs, the Silver Rabbit Jewelry. “I have always loved pearls and color since my maternal grandmother gave me a jewelry making kit when I was five years old,” Thomas recalls. “I grew up in New Orleans and began designing jewelry as a child by re-stringing glass Mardi Gras beads.”
All of her designs are pearls, semi-precious stones, crystals and glass. Many are one of a kind and can be
custom designed.
