Teresa Wieck and Jeff Martin were the first to get married at the new Biloxi Shuckers stadium.

with a ball field wedding and a night at the Beau Rivage on July 1. So he convinced her to go get their marriage license with the intention that they could elope when the moment hit.
Like the engagement, however, Martin’s plans were delayed when Wieck’s stepmother, Bunny Wieck, passed away on June 30.
The funeral was held on July 3, not exactly a perfect day for a wedding, but Teresa didn’t want to wait. “That night, I realized the love that my
dad (Lyle “Charlie” Wieck) had for my stepmother,” Wieck said. “We decided to continue the love.”
With the help of Tim Bennett, one of the Shuckers owners, and Buck Rogers, general manager at the time — both of whom were family friends — Wieck and Martin put together
an impromptu wedding ceremony, following that day’s baseball game. Judge Bruce Strong officiated, and the couple walked through a bridge of baseball bats. Fireworks closed out the night.
