with a house-made Mint Julep. A well- guarded recipe, known by only a select few, this is by far one of the best libations along the Coast, rivaling any Kentucky Derby recipe. Jocelyn’s signature Shrimp Remoulade makes for an impressive starter. Lightly seasoned and broiled, a handful of gulf shrimp are presented alongside an incredibly delicious remoulade sauce, comprised of a multitude of secret spices. Each bite presents something new, leaving the patron delightfully mystified at the complexity of flavors. The Seafood Gumbo’s rich, brown roux packs
an enormous punch and would satisfy any gumbo lover.
Still served at Patrick’s is Jocelyn’s Seafood Au Gratin. A bubbling casserole consisting
of considerable amounts of fresh crab meat and shrimp, the Seafood Au Gratin is an incredible dish. Like any au gratin should be, the sauce is full of rich, creamy cheese. It is decadent and slightly sinful and definitely one in which you should indulge. Still, the finest meal at Patrick’s is the Stuffed Softshell Crab with Lobster Sauce. Two large softshell crabs are brimming with Jocelyn’s trademark seafood stuffing. They are then dredged
in a flour batter and deep fried to crispy perfection. Finally, both crabs are topped with Patrick’s signature lobster sauce. Chunks of lobster are combined with shrimp and crabmeat in the most decadent of sauces, making for one truly epic meal.
With all these amazing dishes, it is no surprise that Patrick’s was voted the 2020 WLOX Gulf Coast Weekend Favorite Seafood Restaurant Winner, a true testament to an amazing restaurant launched by amazing cooks. Joicelyn’s passing in early October was a solemn and somber moment for the entire family. Her love of the restaurant, family and friends was palpable, and an entire community mourned her loss. Still, Joicelyn’s memories live on through her food and fellowship and there is no doubt that Patrick’s will continue to burn the torch so brightly lit years ago.
Patrick’s is a familial institution delightfully catering to our stomachs and are hearts, reminding us always, “Like this, no place.”
