It is no secret that many chefs
and restauranteurs are steeped in tradition with ancestral roots laying the framework for their dishes. However, in Ocean Springs in a small house painted the most vibrant shade of pink, some of the finest cuisine continues to emerge, dazzling the Coast with its gastronomic style.
Patrick’s, formerly Jocelyn’s, is serving up coastal seafood dishes like no other. Following in the footsteps of his late grandmother, Joiceyln Mayfield, Chef Patrick continues to impress with signature dishes and inventive cocktails, never forgetting where it all started.
At the age of 15, Joicelyn began working at Trilby’s Restaurant, which she would later manage with her
husband, Harold. Almost forty years later, they opened Jocelyn’s (without the “i”) in Ocean Springs. It was
only a matter of time before Patrick joined her in the quaint kitchen, lending a hand wherever he could.
At his grandmother’s side, Patrick’s culinary education was that of any apprentice observing the maestro centerstage. Like so many cooks, Joicelyn’s “recipes” were that of taste and smell and sight. Acquiring the measurements for sauces and stuffing was a race for Patrick to catch the right amount of any heaping spoonful just before Joicelyn cast it inside a bubbling pot. Working in tandem with his grandmother, Patrick’s love for food and serving others was born.
