Pav & Broome Fine Jewelry is celebrating 50 years in business and the community is part of the celebration.
John Pav started a watch sales and service shop in Gulfport
in 1973. His brother in law, Melton Broome, joined him a few years later, bringing his knowledge and expertise of the diamond and jewelry business. Together, they formed Pav & Broome Fine Jewelry.
Gail Pav attributes the business’s longevity to customer service. “We understand what people are looking for when they walk through our doors, and we do our best to help them find that each and every time,” she said.
She says the owners never forget that God is where all blessings come from. “He has blessed this family. We don’t just mean the Pavs and the Broomes; we mean our entire work family. Our team is what makes us. They are the moving parts that keep this business in motion and thriving for half a century.”
Change is a part of the company’s continuing success. “We have grown from a small watch and jewelry store to the largest fine jewelry and watch retailer on the Gulf Coast,” Pav said. “In addition to the amazing sales and service staff, we have Rolex- certified watchmakers and repair technicians in house as well as jewelry repair and appraisals. We carry several different lines of fine jewelry and watches and are adding to them constantly. We are excited to announce the addition of Swiss watch line, Oris.”
The biggest change was the retirement of the founders, but Pav says that change will only be felt and seen behind the scenes.
“The principals have been in place long before the retirement started,” she said. “Matthew Pav and Vernon Broome have been in the business for 65 years collectively. They grew up in the store alongside the best in the business. This made the decision to retire that much easier. They knew their legacy was in good hands and would only go further with their children at the helm.”
The anniversary is being celebrated with a host of events through the end of the year. Some of the most notable are the 50th Anniversary Sale-a-Bration, where customers can save up to 50 percent off fine jewelry, watches and gifts just in time for the holidays and fundraising events. “We have partnered with the CASA organizations of South Mississippi and the Humane Society of South Mississippi,” Pav said. “Children and pets in need have always held a special place in our hearts. In an effort to increase donations, we are giving away 10 carats worth of diamonds. Weekly drawings began October 27 and go through December 29.”
