Mosaic Restaurant and Bar has been a staple of dining in Ocean Springs since Arturo Barajas opened the Government Street eatery in 2006. But if you haven’t
beentoMosaicrecently, newowner Kenny Williams and his sta are upping their culinary game with
a new look, new menu items, an extensive cocktail menu, and a
taproom – The Beer House. As head chef and general manager Tony Quave says, “We try to o er something for everyone.”
One of the rst things to know, and appreciate, about Mosaic is that the term “tapas” is deceiving. If you are expecting small plates of appetizers that aren’t for sharing or are just for nibbling, you will be pleasantly surprised.
The extensive small plate (tapas) menu features gourmet appetizers that will easily feed two people.
“We’ve expanded our base a little bit by taking the concept
that Arturo started and adding some menu items that are as locally sourced as possible,” Quave said. “And people are loving it because our business hastripledfromwhatitwasfour years ago.”
The small plates menu o ers selections for vegetarians such as Caprese salad, house-made hummus, falafel and a decadent spinach and artichoke dip. But the center of the tapas menu
is what Quave said is a “best- selling item,” the curry chickpea samosas.
Last but not least, there’s The Beer House, which is a great place to watch the big game. “We have 45 craft beers on tap and a wide selection of hard-to- nd imports and other beers in cans and bottles,” said Quave. “We want to be the go-to place for craft beer on the Coast.”
