is important to realize there is a deadline for applying for part B. The deadline varies from person to person and occurs six months after the first day of the month in which you turn 65. This is the open enrollment period. During this period, you are guaranteed coverage and cannot be turned down due to pre-existing conditions, nor can you be asked any health questions.
HOSPICE CARE
Joshua Bruce: I don’t think anyone is oblivious to what Hospice is. I have experienced death and abuse in my life, and it has taught me that life is precious. Because of that, I have a high value for life and I want to give back.
Faith is a big aspect of what we do. We have a wonderful chaplain who wants to bring God to our patients. He spends time with patients and takes the time to make sure employees are okay. He makes sure that parishioners
are visiting patients from their churches so they are able to get the social interaction they need. Many people don’t realize this, but it is
a government requirement that Hospice providers have a chaplain. The main criteria for hospice is
an end-stage diagnosis. At this point, you should start looking into hospice providers. Within hospice there are a variety of care levels, such as palliative care, spiritual and physical comfort and providing a good quality of life.
DEPRESSION OR FEELING ISOLATED
Mark Borchelt: Obviously taking care of yourself is paramount, but things are going to change and your body may not cooperate the way it has in the past. That may make you unable to go out and have fun with friends and family, but it’s so important to not isolate yourself — that will make things worse.
