Darwell’s is a little bit out of the way, tucked in just across the street from the railroad tracks in Long Beach. Pull into the parking lot and you just might describe your first impression as, well, colorful. There are Christmas lights strung everywhere, and everything seems awash in bright colors.
If you are a little unsure of your first impression, check out the full parking lot and the steady stream of people walking in and out. Rest assured that this place might be bright and flashy, but you are in for a food experience that will be well remembered and often repeated.
Would it reassure you even more to know that chef Dominic Caranna is a Culinary Institute of American, Hyde Park campus, grad? The CIA Hyde
Park is American’s best known culinary school and has turned out some great chefs, including super chef Anthony Bourdain. Yep, it’s another clue for what you are about to experience.

Guy Fieri brought his popular Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives show to Darwell’s and whopped it up about the crawfish etouffee, shrimp Creole, and the live music Darwell’s features every night.
