Lola Fleur is hardly the typical dining establishment in Ocean Springs. There’s no maître d’, the seating is limited to you and a good friend, and there’s no menu. What kind of crazy place is this?
Well, in fact, Lola Fleur may be your next best friend in a culinary way. And what a grand idea it is. Walk in the front door and you will see a cold case loaded with the day’s grab-and-go specials. It’s similar to what the French call prix fixe, or a pre-set menu that changes day by day, with a limited selection. You will most likely also see a small chalk board with a lunch special. When I visited the last time, it was an open-face roast beef sandwich with a kale salad. Now that’s solid. So don’t get the idea there is
little from which to choose. There isn’t
a two or three page menu, but what is offered has been carefully selected and prepared. Expect the best.
This is a perfect idea for the busy, always on-the-go family that demands quality food but can’t find the necessary kitchen time. This place is also good for the unexpected guests who show up and a well-prepared dinner is needed, and fast!
At Lola Fleur the emphasis is on quality, expertly prepared meals,
not fast takeout food. This is great food prepared by a professional chef who is discerning and exacting. The daily selection may be petit by some standards, but the quality is over the top.
