COASTNOTES

Seashore Highlands Retirement Community recently opened the Coast’s first Green HouseR Home licensed as assisted living specializing in memory support for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
The Green HouseR Home will revolutionize senior living options with a design that redefines specialized care. The
concept is designed to eliminate the loneliness, helplessness, and boredom that often run rampant among elders.
Seashore’s Green HouseR Home has 10 private suites serving
as a sanctuary of security and care where residents live in a de- institutionalized home. Each room surrounds a large living area that allows residents to join in activities, visit the secured outdoor patio, and interact through menu planning and even assisting in meal preparation.
The primary caregivers receive more than 150 additional hours
of training, greatly exceeding the federal mandate and most state requirements. Their specialized training includes ways to protect, sustain, and nurture elders and take on a broader array of responsibilities. Like
a family, the residents and staff will create a lifestyle that brings growth and care to every resident.
