APPLIANCE, LLC AND OUTDOOR LIVING CENTER
This family business continues to grow
story by Ed Lepoma photo courtesy of Compton & Son A golden rule of economics is that to prosper, you must
grow your business. Compton and Son Appliance, LLC and Outdoor Living Center has taken that advice, becoming the premiere store on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for high-end appliances.
Curtis Compton started the venture in 1964 as an appliance repair business. The store has grown to 15,000 square feet and now draws clients from the Florida Panhandle to Texas. Sub- Zero, Viking, Wolf and Alfresco are among the top-of-the-line appliances available.
Today, Curtis Compton’s son, Chuck, serves as president, and Chuck’s son, Matt Compton, is vice president, representing the third generation in the family business. Chuck’s wife, Jill, is the head of marketing and community relations.
“I think what sets us apart from the big box stores is our one- on-one assistance to our customers,” said Chuck Compton. “Our professional team of sales personnel and designers
guides customers every
step of the way. We
pride ourselves that
we send our installers
to school to become
certified installers to make sure new appliances are mounted properly and running properly.”

Matt Compton loves to show the wide range of appliances
in the showroom space dedicated to outdoor living. “Business is good year-round,” he said. “Our designers can come to your home, measure the entertainment space that’s available and suggest grills, outdoor stoves and other appliances,” he added. Patio furniture is also available.
The Compton family gives back to the community through various non-profits. Jill Compton said, “Each year, Compton supplies the high-end appliances that are installed in the St. Jude Dream Home.”
