BACHELOR PAD

The home has long been thought of as a woman’s domain. Women are considered the nesters, responsible for creating spaces where their interior style defines how their
family interacts and how everyday living carries on within the walls of the suburban home. But in the 1960s, that norm was challenged when the term “bachelor pad” emerged out of the pages of men’s magazines like Esquire and Playboy. Surrounded by technology, bold art, and a fully stocked bar, men were given permission to express their own design style and catch the perfect mate doing it!
While magazines, movies, and retro television shows offer a glamorous take on the Mid-Century Modern bachelor pad, it's mostly just a cultural myth most men wish they had experienced. What isn’t a myth, however, is that men do have decorating ideas, just be aware – if you don’t want to know what they are, don’t ask!
Men typically make very practical interior design
decisions and changing their minds can be difficult. In our experiences, most men like color on the walls and durable flooring. Seating is selected for comfort with less concern for style and versatility. They love leather! Wooden hard goods like tables and cabinets should be stained and painted pieces
