personal favorite is the Tex Mex Burger. The patty is a blend of brisket, short rib and ground beef mixed with the house seasoning blend. In addition to the high-quality
meat, Laura tops this burger with house- made pimento choose, bacon and, the real showstopper, homemade candied jalapeños – yum!
Of course, we had to try Georgia’s favorite as well. The shrimp and crab gratin is
a creamy blend of cheeses, spices, lump crabmeat and Gulf shrimp served alongside a toasted baguette. This is one of those melt-in-your-mouth types of dishes that you think about your entire drive home. Yes, it’s that good!
Jenn and I also enjoyed one of the cold lunch offerings for the day, The Duo.
I wouldn’t call this a duo so much as a quintet. The stars of the show, generous scoops of house-made smoky pimento cheese and hand-pulled chicken salad are served with crackers, boiled eggs and fresh fruit – a delicious way to sample some of Georgia’s Corner Market’s best products! Both the pimento cheese and chicken
salad are typically available for purchase in the take-home coolers that line the front wall of the restaurant. Take-home offerings vary by day, but can include items such as homemade meatballs, quiche, mac and cheese, enchiladas, meatloaf, soup, cinnamon rolls and more. Also be sure to check out what’s “on the counter” that day – AKA what’s available in the bakery. You can’t go wrong with any of Laura’s delectable treats, but the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are a fan favorite!
The remodeled grocery store is plenty big for events too. The space can be rented out after hours for events big and small, and while Georgia’s does offer catering it is not required. In addition to the dining space, bakery and take-home area, the restaurant also has several tables set aside for local goods including pottery and, if you’re very lucky, some of Laura’s candied jalapeños.
