This time of the year, more so than any other, is deeply connected to our childhood memories and emotions. More distinctive than the sights and sounds of the holidays are the smells that take us back home. Don’t  you love the aroma of pecan pies baking  in the oven or the scent of smoke from a  neighbor’s chimney?
Olfaction, our sense of smell, has the ability to in uence and transport us to  another place and time in ways no other sense can. There is a direct connection between our nose and the deep part of our brain where memories and emotions are stored. Our visual, auditory, and tactile senses are relayed from one part of
It’s o cially fall and while the Gulf Coast’s sunny days seem to ignore the calendar, it’s natural to start thinking about fall activities and the upcoming holidays. We wish for chilly evenings when we might be able to wear a sweater and look forward to warm dinners around the family table. It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner with Christmas soon to follow.
