“We started renovations in July and moved into the house in November,” Christy said.
While some elements of the home, such as the central fireplace, remained intact, everything received a facelift. In the open living area, the wood ceiling beams were painted,
as was the fireplace, giving everything a clean and modern appearance.
Christy said most of the home was completely gutted. The kitchen in particular was an interesting remodel because of the lack of a pantry. “There was this small nook that was kind of walled off and mostly served as storage and a space for the A/C return, which we were able to turn into a walk-in pantry,” she said.
Due to the A/C return needing ventilation, Christy came up with an idea to make a mirrored door that still allows air to go through. “We purchased wall sconces, took them apart, and Brandon welded them together to create these long pieces that we could use for the doorway. I’m in love with the way it turned out, and it looks
so much better than a typical louvered door.”
From custom doors to the materials and décor used, Brandon and Christy thought every element through. “A lot of the time, I come up with an idea and Brandon finds a way to bring it to life. Luckily, we have similar tastes for the most part!”
