run through the best sellers. Hands down the best seller is the roast beef po-boy. It’s fully dressed with tomato and lettuce, loaded with famous Manda roast beef (Baton Rouge made), and dripping with rich gravy. Some aficionados add a slice or two of cheese, and then it becomes a gooey, messy delicious meal that you will be hard pressed to finish. Make sure to load up with paper towels before you dive into this amazing po-boy.
As you might guess, the fried shrimp and oyster po-boys are also best sellers, but you do have a choice of 14 others. The Philly cheese looked tempting, as did the hamburger po-boy (they grind their own USDA choice beef and form it into 1/3 pound patties).
I have always had a weakness for soft shell crab anything, but I decided to go for the triple meat po-boy that was on special for just $7.95. This was a po-boy loaded, and I mean loaded, with roast beef, ham, and turkey. I had a few slices of cheese added and a big scoop of gravy. I ordered it to go and decided to take just one bite before I left the parking lot. I had to get out and get a roll of paper towels from the car trunk, and I have to admit I finished the whole thing before I drove off. Now that was a po-boy I will long remember.
Fayard’s is also a butcher shop where you can get custom cut USDA choice beef and pork. But if you go to Fayard’s, you’ve just got to try a po-boy. You will not regret it!
