JOEY SHEPARD WINS Award for Single Family New Construction Custom Home
A Biloxi home builder captured
the top prize in the Home Builders Association of Mississippi’s 2016 Best in Mississippi awards for building
and remodeling. Shepard Homes won the award for Single Family New Construction custom home in the 2,500- 3,499 square-foot category. The home
is located at 1252 Beach Boulevard in Gulfport.
Shepard Homes President Joey Shepard has been building homes on the Coast since 2002 and says he was honored to win the award. “It really does feel good when hard work and attention to detail are appreciated,” he said. “Another great part of this awards ceremony is that two other custom home builders from the Coast also won awards. That says a lot for our new home market and our community. I’m proud to be a part of that group and hope we can keep the Mississippi Gulf Coast headed in the right direction.”
Shepard explains that all custom homes have challenges but that’s the
part of being a home builder he enjoys the most. “With this house, it was exciting to be creative and figure out the best way to make it unique while still incorporating the coastal lifestyle we all love,” he added. “It’s these type of challenges that make home building fun. When you step back and see how it all came together, it makes me look forward to doing it all over again.”
He feels this award-winning home offers modern, upgraded features while maintaining the small-town charm for which the Coast is known. “It’s the perfect blend of modern and Southern living in one home,” he said, “and fits perfectly on the beach front lot nestled in the Live oaks.”
The home is built to fortified standards with a truss system roof, two tankless water heaters and gas connections for fireplace, cooktop and outdoor grill. The exterior features brick porches and louvered Bahama- style shutters.
