PEARL HOTEL
Outdoor fire pits and top-notch dining can be discovered in this marvelous hotel venue in Downtown Bay St. Louis, which is affectionately called Old Bay Town by locals and is one of the oldest Coastal cities. During evening hours, the hotel’s cocktail bar Hinge is perfect for sampling handcrafted drinks and local beer, while the outdoor pool is just right for cooling off after a day spent on the beach or at a waterpark. If you forget beach chairs or sundries or just want to take home a set of locally made oyster knives, check out the hotel’s shop, The Reef.
GULF HILLS HOTEL & RESORT
Built as a hideout for Al Capone, this Ocean Springs resort became a favorite vacation spot for Elvis. The King of Rock and Roll loved to tickle the ivory keys in the Pink Pony lounge and had notable friends visit including Hollywood starlets Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, and Jayne Mansfield. There were even rumors of gateway gangster tunnels under the hotel that was built in 1927, and these days, its modern look and function preserve the hotel’s history on a waterfront setting.
CASINO RESORTS
The Coast is also home to 12 casinos with 24-hour gaming and several hotels that all have famous golf courses. About 30 courses are scattered around the three different Coastal counties and most resorts include gorgeous spas. Island View Casino Resort, Palace Casino Resort, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort, and IP Casino Resort Spa are a few of the casino hotels in D’Iberville, Biloxi, and Gulfport.
WHAT TO DO
Quite well-known for golfing, gaming, and sun recreation, the Coast actually offers a lot of additional things to do. Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport is the Magnolia State’s only aquarium and provides windows and hands-on access to Gulf marine life like sea turtles, otters, and bottlenose dolphins. And while Moss Point’s Gator Ranch and Swamp Boat Tours offer up-close views of native wildlife, only the animal experts get to hand-feed alligators. As the only gator farm in the state, it guarantees a walk on the wild side.
INDOOR ADVENTURES
HOTEL WHISKEY
For those looking for a more subtle getaway, Hotel Whiskey Pass Christian and Hotel Whiskey Pascagoula each offer cozy venues perfect for spirits aficionados with on-property restaurants and a wealth of high-end Southern classic cocktails.
