CENTENNIAL PLAZA, A HISTORIC DESTINATION WITH GOLF, GAMES, & GRUB
Great times aren’t hard to catch at Centennial Plaza Resort’s latest addition, Hippie Fish. Set amidst the lush surroundings of the resort and directly across from the sandy white beach of Gulfport, this entertainment center is the newest Coast attraction. And Hippie Fish is triple the fun with two open-air 18-hole miniature golf courses, a gaming arcade, and a restaurant.
“The term mini golf really doesn’t do it justice,” explained Tessy Lambert, chief marketing officer at Lodging & Leisure Investments. “It’s really more elevated than that because it does have par threes and par fours. So, it’s not just your typical mini golf.”
Both walkable courses feature challenging water entrapments in a relaxed atmosphere underneath the ancient live oaks on the grounds of Centennial Plaza Resort. “Even during the summer, you’ll have wonderful shade and beach breezes,” she said. “It’s quite an experience, and you can play at your leisure so there’s no rush.”
Hippie Fish’s masterful courses also include a large, traditional gaming arcade and an American-style restaurant complete with burgers, pizza, and other family fare. “People have been looking for more fun, family- oriented things to do around Gulfport, and I think this is going to really be something good for them and the people who come to the resorts,” Lambert said.
But there’s so much more at Centennial Plaza Resort. What was once a military installation with a history harkening back more than a century, is now a welcoming 48-acre Coastal haven for visitors, locals, and business travelers.
The resort complex features two hotels with more restaurants and bars, the Oasis Resort and the Grand Centennial Hotel. The Oasis Grill serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has coffee and juice bars, the Grand Centennial Wine Bar has almost 50 different wines, a full bar featuring modern takes on Prohibition-
