Helping The Animals
Giving Back
Horseshoe Tunica donated more than $53,000 to many Mid-South nonprofit organizations. These annual donations come from the property’s belief in giving back to the community where team members live, work and play, said Director of
Human Resources Tammy Young. Organizations receiving funds included American Cancer Society (above) ($10,000), American Heart Association ($7,234), Community Foundation of NWMS ($1,000), Desoto County Dream Center ($1,000), House of Grace ($1,000), Healing Hearts Child Advocacy
($1,000), Memphis Child Advocacy Center ($4,994), Memphis Inner City Rugby ($10,000), Mississippi Coats 4 Kidz ($2,000), New Beginnings Animal Shelter ($1,000), National Civil Rights Museum (right) ($2,000), Sacred Hearts Missions ($1,000), Tunica 10 Point ($1,000) and The Women’s Foundation ($10,000).
Golden Nugget employees hosted a fundraiser to benefit the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Employees who donated were able to wear jeans on Thursdays in June. A total of $755 was collected for the shelter. Employees also donated cleaning supplies, pet treats and food, toys, and more.

Sound The Alarm
Beau Rivage employees recently teamed up with the Biloxi Fire Department and the American Red Cross for the Sound the Alarm fire safety campaign. The volunteers visited residents in the area’s underserved communities to install free smoke detectors in homes that needed them. They also helped families create fire escape plans. More than 50 smoke detectors were installed in Biloxi homes.
Ameristar Cares
Ameristar Casino Vicksburg donated $15,374
to the American Cancer Society. The money was collected through guest donations of casino ticket- in, ticket-out vouchers. A ticket drop box is located near the casino main entrance, and guests can drop in their tickets knowing the money will be given to a local charity.
Supporting School Sports
Fitz Casino & Hotel donated
$5,000 to Lake Cormorant High School in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi. Fitz Vice President and General Manager Tony Scudiero (center) presented the donation to Nick Nester, head football coach, and volunteer Krystal Riley. Nester said the money will support the purchase of much-needed football equipment at the school.
