NATCHEZ — Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel responded to a local business during a time when supplies were critically low. In May, the casino, in conjunction with Performance Food Group, delivered 30 cases of chicken, 30 cases of tortilla chips and two cases of ham to the Natchez Community Stewpot.
Marcus Archer, director of the Stewpot, said, “We are so grateful for all of our community partners who help make The Stewpot what it is. We will distribute over 90,000 meals this year, and that only happens because of the generosity of individuals and businesses in
the Miss-Lou. This donation from Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel is greatly appreciated and will help us continue our mission to serve those in need, seven days a week, 365 days a year.”
“We’re proud to support The Stewpot on their mission to feed
the hungry in our community,” said Tim Morrissey, vice president and general manager of Magnolia Bluffs.
Horseshoe HEROs donate backpacks
TUNICA — Horseshoe Tunica employee HERO volunteers collected 335 backpacks filled with school supplies. Along with the backpacks for students, supplies for teachers were also donated.
Cynthia Smith, wardrobe manager at Horseshoe, said the property had 35 HERO volunteers donate the backpacks. She said the volunteers spent time shopping either at stores or online to make sure children in local communities had the supplies they needed to have a successful school year.

“We were able to use $1,000 from the NRT donations; these donations are given to us by our loyal guests,” said Smith. “We are grateful that our guests donated their change.”
Receiving backpacks were Curlz for Girlz in Memphis, which received 25 filled backpacks for its back-to-school event for young girls; Jonestown Elementary Schools, which received 140 filled backpacks; Sacred Heart Southern Missions, which received 170 filled backpacks.
Helping Dover
Fitz Casino & Hotel
donated $2,500 to the Senatobia Animal Shelter to support the care they provide animals, like Dover.
