Palace Casino Resort receives ‘Best of Inspected Clean’ award
BILOXI — Palace Casino Resort has been recognized with the 2023 AAA Inspector’s Best of Inspected Clean Award, granted to hotels throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean that earn the highest possible level of cleanliness and condition. This designation is awarded to only the top 25% of AAA Diamond hotels for outstanding cleanliness and condition.
“We are honored to be
recognized by AAA for
our commitment to
housekeeping and
maintenance,” said
George Alexander,
director of hotel
operations. “At Palace
Casino Resort, we are
committed to exceeding
guest expectations and
providing superior travel experiences. This award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our entire staff.”
A hotel’s housekeeping and maintenance attributes are among the most important components analyzed during the onsite evaluation conducted by AAA’s professionally trained inspectors. While every hotel must meet rigorous standards of cleanliness and condition to qualify for the AAA Diamond program, hotels awarded
the Inspector’s Best of Inspected
Clean designation significantly surpass expectations as measured during a comprehensive, on-site inspection. All areas must reflect this high standard as AAA inspectors review for evidence of dirt, dust, equipment performance and more.
In 2021, AAA added scientific testing methodology that relies on an objective method to validate
cleanliness. Inspectors now swab multiple touchpoints throughout
the property inspections to detect adenosine
triphosphate (ATP) — an energy-carrying molecule found in all living cells. ATP is found in most food
sources, human skin cells, bacteria, yeast, mold and
biological material found in respiratory droplets.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has
had a profound impact on travelers’ expectations for cleanliness. That’s more important than ever as more people get the COVID-19 vaccine and start traveling once again,” said Paula Twidale, senior vice president, AAA Travel. “All AAA Diamond designated hotels must meet our established standards of cleanliness and physical condition. With the new addition of surface cleanliness testing, these properties will now also be recognized as Inspected Clean.”

Magnolia Bluffs
GM named as
Top 20 Under 40
NATCHEZ — Tim Morrissey, vice president and general manager of Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel, was voted by readers of The Natchez Democrat as one of the area’s Top 20 Under 40.
The yearly contest seeks nominations for area residents who are making
an impact in their respective fields, exemplify strong leadership and have
a track record of accomplishments. Residents then vote and the top 20 are recognized in the July/August edition of Natchez The Magazine.
Morrissey was appointed to the position of vice president and general manager of Magnolia Bluffs in October 2022 following the acquisition of the property by Saratoga Casino Holdings. Morrissey has more than 13 years of experience in the gaming industry, and has held senior management positions with several organizations throughout his career. He oversees the day-to-
day operations and works with the leadership team at the property to build on the current success of Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel.
Although a resident of Natchez for less than a year, Morrissey has joined several organizations and is actively involved in the community. “I’m honored to have been recognized by my fellow community members,” Morrissey said. “The gaming industry is very strong
and Mississippi has a great group of regulators and legislators in place who understand the value of the gaming industry. We have exciting days ahead.”
