Vicksburg has witnessed a burgeoning gaming industry in recent years. The city’s gaming landscape primarily revolves around its riverboat casinos, contributing significantly to the local economy and entertainment scene.
The introduction of riverboat casinos in Vicksburg brought about a transformative shift in the city’s economic dynamics. These floating gaming
traffic generated by casino visitors. This symbiotic relationship has created a more vibrant local economy, fostering growth and stability for various sectors of the community.
Moreover, the gaming industry has contributed significantly to the city’s tax revenue. The taxation of casino revenue has provided a substantial source of income for the local government, making it possible to invest more into public service, infrastructure, and community development projects. This financial injection has played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall quality of life for Vicksburg residents.
While gaming in Vicksburg provides
a boost to the economy, it also shapes
the city’s entertainment landscape.

With Ameristar celebrating its 30th anniversary next month (see page 15 for more on this), their presence, along with the presence
of other casinos, has helped Vicksburg become a regional gaming destination, attracting visitors from neighboring states.
Vicksburg’s other casinos — Bally’s Vicksburg, Riverwalk Casino Hotel and WaterView Casino & Hotel — offer their own dining options and hotel accommodations for guests to enjoy.
