Casinos help those facing water crisis
MISSISSIPPI — Gov. Tate Reeves issued
an emergency order in August to deal with a water crisis in the city of Jackson, Mississippi; he later extended the order into November as issues persisted. The actions were necessitated by failures of city’s water treatment plant - failures that have led to low water pressure, brown water and boil water notices.
Members of the Mississippi gaming industry took notice and jumped into action to help Jackson’s 150,000 residents. Bally’s Vicksburg donated 100 cases of bottled water to be

 used in nursing homes that are in need, as well as the Boys & Girls Club of Jackson. Also in Vicksburg, Ameristar Casino Hotel donated bottled water and other beverages, along with snack items to the Mississippi Food Network.
Gold Strike in Tunica and its sister property Beau Rivage in Biloxi donated 15 pallets of water to aid Jackson residents. The donation was equivalent to more than 40,000 bottles of water. And 1st Jackson Casino and Hollywood Casino Tunica donated two pallets of water to Jackson residents.
