Housekeepers clean up during celebration week
MISSISSIPPI — Held every year during the second full week of September, Environmental Services Week or International Housekeepers Week is a time dedicated to recognizing the efforts of hard-working custodial staff members. The past few years, housekeeping and EVS staffs have worked harder than
ever keeping up with new cleaning and sanitizing protocols to ensure the safety of employees and guests.
Mississippi casinos celebrated their housekeeping teams in a variety of ways. In Vicksburg, a housekeeping appreciation day at WaterView Casino Hotel included an ice cream party with gifts for all housekeeping staff.
Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa in Greenville celebrated the week with
daily activities, including special meals and ending with a formal banquet and recognition ceremony. Director of Hotel Operations Lawrence Davis and Carolyn Griffin, assistant manager of hotel operations, expressed their gratitude to the custodial employees, who received
a T-shirt that read “Together we make a

In Tunica, Gold Strike’s team members celebrated the housekeeping department
throughout the week starting off with a pep rally. The festivities continued with
a pizza party and trivia and concluded with a lunch reception featuring games, giveaways and dancing. Team members had a great time celebrating the housekeeping department’s contributions to the success of Gold Strike’s daily operations.
Biloxi casinos
also marked the
annual week. At
Golden Nugget, the
week began with a
special breakfast
for the department.
Supervisors recognized
top performers and a spotlight was placed on many of the employees throughout the week. Employees also enjoyed a luncheon where prizes were given away, including TVs, electronics, and gift cards. The week wrapped up with goody bags for everyone.
Treasure Bay
Beau Rivage’s housekeeping and EVS departments celebrated team members throughout the week with giveaways, games and daily snacks and treats. Gift certificates, comps and three televisions were also up for grabs during the week.
Hard Rock celebrated the housekeeping staff each day during the appreciation week with a new surprise for team members. Tokens of appreciation included comps to
the property’s food outlets, contests to see who could make the best bed, and catered meals.
Games, prizes and a pizza party were on tap at Treasure Bay. Games included
guessing the total cost of eight room items. It was EVS Supervisor Tim Jackson who won a gift card for first place in that contest with a winning bid that was only off the actual cost by four cents.
