5 Minutes With... Colin Skidmore
What, where, when was your first job in the gaming industry? My first role for Caesars Entertainment about 18 years ago was as a bell person at our Harrah’s Resort Southern California property.
What do you like best about your current job? Being able to serve all the team members at the property. Whether it is developing them in their careers or problem-solving tricky situations together, I get up every day excited to come to work and see our team members grow and learn.
What is the best piece of business advice you ever received and from whom did you receive it? My father told me very early on in my career
that if a leader asks, “Do you think you can handle it?” always answer “yes.” He told me that by leveraging your resourcefulness and by collaborating with others, answering “yes” will allow you to learn and grow through the discomfort of challenging opportunities.
What advice do you have for those just starting in the gaming industry? Embrace learning new things! The casino industry offers a very unique opportunity

How do you define “success”?
Success is defined by the positive impact we have on those we work with, and for, throughout each day. If at the end of the day, we can confidently say that we did everything we could for our team then that was a successful day.
What is something you do each day just for yourself? I enjoy running in the morning and listening to a podcast. If I’m on the treadmill, I’ll catch up on a TV show. The latest show I’ve been enjoying has been Ted Lasso on Apple TV+.
What is it about the gaming industry that makes it a good industry? As I mentioned previously, the sheer variety of departments and needed skillsets
is a career-orientated individual’s
dream. Couple that with the focus on entertainment and hospitality and a penchant for constant innovation and we have a recipe for continually interesting and exciting events in the gaming industry.
