Phillip M’s gets Wine Spectator Award
Pearl River Resort restaurant receives Best of Award of Excellence
MISSISSIPPI — Wine Spectator re- cently unveiled its 2024 Restaurant Award winners.
Pearl River Resort’s Phillip M’s and IP Casino Resort & Spa’s thirty two are two of only six 2024 Best of Award of Excellence restaurants in the state.
Phillip M’s earned the coveted designa- tion with wine strengths listed as Burgundy, France and California.
The wine lists at Best of Award of Ex- cellence restaurants are required to display excellent breadth across multiple wine- growing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with supe- rior presentation. Typically offering 350 or more selections, these restaurants are des- tinations for serious wine lovers, showing a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their service team.
There were 14 Award of Excellence designations given to restaurants in Mississippi and the four casino restaurant re- cipients are located at two casinos in Biloxi: Beau Rivage (BR Prime, Jia and Stalla) and Golden Nugget (Morton’s).
Award of Excellence wine lists offer at least 90 selections
and feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Whether compact or extensive, focused or diverse, these lists deliver sufficient choice to satisfy discerning wine lovers.
Launched in 1981, the restaurant awards represent the world’s only program fo- cused exclusively on restaurant wine ser- vice. More than 3,500 restaurants were recognized for 2024. They were assigned awards on three levels: the Award of Ex- cellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award, with 2,150; 1,531; and 96 winners this year in each respective category.
Wine Spectator Editor and Publisher Marvin R. Shanken said restaurant open- ings are surpassing pre-pandemic levels
for the first time and restaurants are re-investing in their wine programs. “Restaurants that make wine a priority are what the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards program is all about,” Shanken explained. “I’m pleased to congratulate all 3,777 restaurants for their dedication to wine and exemplary wine lists.”
