Area charities featured in holiday display benefit from fundraiser

Tunica Humane Society gets $3,000 as the favorite of Sam’s Town guests
TUNICA — Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall participated in Boyd Gaming’s Wreaths of Hope. Charities in northwest Mississippi decorated wreaths that were put on display in the Sam’s Town Atrium. Guests at Sam’s Town could vote on their favorite wreath and visitors to the Sam’s Town website could also vote. The top vote-getters received donations.
Voting closed before Christmas and when the count was done,
the winners were announced.
Getting the most votes was the Tunica Humane Society, which
received a $3,000 donation for being the favorite of all wreaths. Mississippi Project Package received the second-most number of
votes and received a $1,500 donation.
House of Grace received the third-most votes was awarded a
$500 donation.
Gold Strike lifts holiday spirits
Gold Strike employees made the Christmas holidays brighter for north Mississippi families by adopting 39 angels from Sacred Heart Southern Missions’ Angel Tree. A mountain of gifts illustrated the employees’ generosity.
