Housekeeping teams clean up during week
MISSISSIPPI — Held every year during the second full week
of September, Environmental Services Week or International Housekeepers Week is a time dedicated to recognizing the efforts of hard-working custodial staff members. Mississippi casinos celebrated their housekeeping teams with kind words, sweet cake, fun events and plenty of excitement.
“We are immensely grateful for the tireless efforts of our housekeeping team, whose commitment ensures that our guests enjoy a clean and welcoming environment. Their hard work and dedication are the foundation of our success,” said Michelle Cobbins, senior director of operations at Golden Nugget.
One of several casinos that honored
their housekeeping staff, Golden Nugget
celebrated from September 8-14. The
week featured meals, team activities, and a
variety of prizes, including gift cards, vacation getaways, and resort packages.
Palace Casino Resort treated housekeepers to a party with food and cake (see inset). Hard Rock provided a special meal outside
Golden Nugget Biloxi
the employee dining room to all housekeeping employees, and held drawings for prizes, including TVs and gift cards. Hard Rock employees also played games, such as the toilet paper toss and catching floor scrubbers with broom handles.
Harrah’s Gulf Coast marked the event with a week full of fun: big breakfast buffets, nacho bars for lunch,
pizza, ice cream, raffles, and pinatas filled with prizes. The executive team shared donuts with the housekeeping team, followed by directors and vice presidents helping the employees perform their jobs.
To top off the week of activities, Director of Hospitality Ryan Witcher hosted a beach bonfire, complete with a DJ, food and snow cones.
The hard work of the housekeeping and EVS team was celebrated at Beau Rivage with a series of games and prizes. Games
included Jenga, balloon darts and Connect Four, with employees competing for gift cards and other goodies. Tasty treats such as pizza, donuts, and fresh popcorn were provided to employees. The week wrapped up with a grand finale featuring chocolate cake and a
raffle for two donated 65-inch TVs.
The housekeeping department at Scarlet Pearl Casino
Resort organized daily treats and housekeeping-themed games, with winners announced for each shift. Activities included toilet tissue bowling, toilet bowl toss, blindfold vacuuming, and more. The teams also enjoyed a potluck with more than 30 dishes and participated in a prize walk, giving employees the chance to win a 55-inch TV, an Apple iPad, Ring doorbells, crockpots, air fryers, baking sets, and more.
At Horseshoe Tunica, every housekeeper received a gift, enjoyed a barbecue and snacks, and played games for prizes. In Vicksburg, the housekeeping department at WaterView Casino Hotel received a logo backpack tote filled with snacks
and water.
