About TMCF
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black college community. Established in 1987 under the leadership of Dr. N. Joyce Payne—with support from corporate partners like Miller Brewing Co., Sony Music, the NBA and Reebok—TMCF
has remained committed to advancing access, opportunity and economic mobility for students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and other Black-serving institutions.
Today, TMCF supports nearly 300,000 students across 57 publicly supported HBCUs, predominantly Black institutions (PBIs), historically Black community colleges (HBCCs), medical schools and law schools. Our mission is to provide direct resources to these institutions, develop top talent for high-demand careers and expand pathways to leadership in corporate America.
