Jeffrey J. Brown
President, Hendrick Automotive Group
JJeffrey J. Brown joined Hendrick Automotive Group as President on February 1, 2024 and is responsible for running the auto operations for the largest privately held automotive group in the United States headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Brown retired as CEO of Ally Financial in January 2024, after serving as CEO and member of the board of directors for 9 years. Under Brown’s leadership, Ally built on its strengths in auto financing, retail deposits and corporate financing; diversified into digital wealth management and online brokerage, mortgage products and unsecured lending; and grew its purpose-driven culture.
Brown previously held leadership positions at Ally, having served as president and CEO of Dealer Financial Services, executive vice president of finance and corporate planning, and corporate treasurer since joining the company in 2009.
Brown received a bachelor’s degree from Clemson
University and an executive MBA from Queens University in Charlotte. He serves on the board of the Clemson University Foundation and is chair of Queens’ board of trustees. Brown also serves on the Charlotte Sports Foundation Board.
In 2021, he was appointed president of the Federal Advisory Council, having served as a representative for the Seventh Federal Reserve District since 2018.
Passionate about diversity and inclusion, he joined the first 150 members of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge, advancing D&I in the workplace as a competitive and societal issue. He was honored as CEO of the Year by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund in 2019.
He received a 2016 Father of the Year award by the Father’s Day Council, benefiting the American Diabetes Association for his commitment to family, career and community.
