HOW WE PUT BRIGHT MINDS TO WORK
We’re the only national organization to provide this level of support to publicly supported HBCUs, HBCCs and PBIs. We also efficiently connect high-performing, world-ready students with top-tier employment opportunities — that students might not have on their own.
Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) represents and supports thousands of students attending our 57 member schools, which include publicly supported historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), historically Black community colleges (HBCCs) and predominantly Black institutions (PBIs), including medical and law schools. Our member schools confer more degrees than any other HBCU-serving organization.
TMCF member schools are a critical source of higher education for all students — and we help students with a clear intention to succeed acquire a high-quality college education at an affordable cost.
PROGRAMS
TMCF programs directly address student resource and preparation gaps, as well as member-school resource gaps that result from decades of underfunding, so they can better prepare their students for post-graduation success.
Our programs include career readiness and leadership, as well as development of soft skills — part of introducing students to the secrets of corporate success — while preparing them for internships that neither the students nor the employers would otherwise enjoy.
SCHOLARSHIPS
TMCF’s scholarships directly address the single largest factor in HBCU students stopping out before graduation — lack of funding — and provide wrap-around support to help students understand the benefits of degree completion.
TMCF’s member schools’ capacity-building work supports student persistence, and for those who have stopped out, re- enrollment and support through graduation.
CORPORATE SCHOLAR AND IMMERSION PROGRAMS
TMCF Corporate Scholar Programs promote career readiness through leadership development, boot camps and immersive experiences for hand-selected student leaders attending HBCUs and PBIs.
These highly competitive and unique programs leverage the knowledge, experience, and network of top employers from around the country and TMCF staff to foster a collaborative learning community. Students develop key leadership skills, nurture their originality, and receive hands-on experience that will prepare them for high-level careers.
CORPORATE PARTNERS
Our commitment to partner with, and provide businesses and corporations with superior talent, is unmatched. Few of our achievements would be possible without the support of our generous financial partners.
Corporate partners that have participated in these unique programs include Altria, Apple, The Boeing Company, Hennessy, Freddie Mac, U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, and USDA – National Resources Conservation Service.
IMPACT
TMCF significantly impacts students’ lives by offering a comprehensive pathway from high school to career. Our efforts are particularly crucial given the challenges HBCU college students face.
Through our various programs and support systems, we transform the lives of thousands of students annually, making a substantial difference in the educational and professional landscape, therefore enhancing the communities in which we live.
