About This Issue
As someone who grew up in South Mississippi, my love for this place runs deep. Though I’ve called the Coast home for most of my life, I’ve also lived in a handful of other states over the years. Those experiences only confirmed what I already knew— nowhere else compares to the Coast I call home.
This issue is all about What We Love Most About the Coast, and there’s no shortage of things to celebrate. From the lush flora and fauna that inspired Walter Inglis Anderson’s work to the rich history that shapes everything from the names of our cities to the architecture of today’s businesses. There’s so much we can’t wait to share with you!
We couldn’t think of a better way to showcase this theme than with custom cover art by local artist Kaitlyn Brewer. Known for her Coastal Mississippi coloring book and Biloxi Seafood Festival poster design, Kaitlyn created a vibrant illustration featuring beloved landmarks from across the Coast. Can you identify them all?
Inside this issue, you’ll also find an early copy of the official Peter Anderson Festival Guide. We are honored to partner once again with the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce–Main Street– Tourism Bureau to produce this guide. The festival takes place November 8 and 9, giving you plenty of time to plan ahead and scout your favorite booths and vendors.
Finally, we close this edition by introducing the Walter Anderson Museum of Art’s new executive director and chief curator, Mattie Codling, and sharing her exciting vision for the museum’s future. Congratulations, Mattie!
