About This Issue
January is a time of fresh beginnings and a chance to recharge after the busy holiday season. One of my favorite things about this month is
our “Faces of South Mississippi” issue. It’s an opportunity to spotlight some of the Coast’s most recognizable faces – and introduce a few new ones as well.
We hope you’ll enjoy learning about these remarkable Coast residents as much as we did! From the smiling faces of top medical professionals to the behind-the-scenes movers and shakers, this issue is brimming with inspiring stories. Please take a moment to explore this issue and celebrate the people who make South Mississippi such a vibrant and special place.
Gracing our cover is Kenny Williams, The Artful Restaurateur. If you’ve spent an evening out on
the town in Ocean Springs, chances are you’ve experienced one of his incredible establishments. And after trying the brunch at Evergreen recently, I can confidently say it’s a must-visit. The pancakes are unforgettable – truly the best I’ve ever had – and I take breakfast foods very seriously!
In our People section, read all about the amazing collaboration between the Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs and the Bridging the Gap program, which aims to provide a memorable experience while advocating for diverse representation in media and fashion. The project selected nine Gulf Coast fashion models aged 13
to 18 for a photo shoot with local photographer Jessica Holland of Bloom Photography & Design at the House of the Jackson Pearl in Ocean Springs.
Closing out this issue, Jamie Bates, the
man behind the lens of James Edward Bates Photography and one of the most generous hearts I know, shares his perspective on the work that’s being done to help the homeless in our community, what still needs to be done, and how we can help.
Happy reading and happy New Year, South Mississippi!
